Park of Roses

Located just north of downtown Columbus in the neighborhood of Clintonville is the famous Park of Roses. The land was used to plant victory gardens during World War II, and was re-purposed afterwards as a large city park.

The park includes three different rose gardens including the main garden, heritage garden, and the earth-kind garden. The Main Garden is an Italian formal garden containing a variety of beautiful roses, blooming multiple times during the year. Following the Main Garden is the Heritage Garden, which is full of older varieties of roses that bloom only once per year. The newest portion is the Earth-Kind garden. This selection of roses is grown without pesticides, fertilizers, or pruning, and is designed to encourage home gardeners. Located adjacent to the park are baseball fields, soccer fields, and even a fishing pond.

Parking is free in one of the many lots at the park.
